Four Arkansas teachers selected as Teacher of the Year semi-finalists

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Four Arkansas teachers were selected as the 2025 Arkansas Teacher of the Year State Semi-Finalists.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Arkansas Department of Education Secretary Jacob Oliva congratulated the educators listed below:

  • Melani Blansett, Cabot High School theatre teacher
  • Kimberly Dickens, Alma High School English teacher
  • Abby Roberts, Jim Stone Elementary School first-grade teacher
  • Jeanie Wilcoxon, Chenal Elementary School math teacher

“We are so pleased to recognize these four educators for their dedication to education,” Oliva said. “From teaching theatre and English to math and first grade, these are among the best of the best in their field. We look forward to learning more about them and ultimately naming one of them the 2025 Arkansas Teacher of the Year.”

Arkansas Department of Education Secretary Jacob Oliva and Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders alongside semi-finalists: Kimberly Dickens, Melani Blansett, Abby Roberts and Jeanie Wilcoxon.

Each semi-finalist will receive a $1,000 prize provided by the Walton Family Foundation as well as an additional $1,000 prize.

The Arkansas Teacher of the Year program is part of the National Teacher of the Year program. It honors educators and their teaching and leadership skills, officials said.

The 2025 Arkansas Teacher of the Year will be named this fall, making them eligible to apply for the national program.
