Home builder announces $42 million move into central Arkansas, more than 250 jobs expected
CONWAY, Ark. – A national builder of single-family homes announced it is investing in central Arkansas and creating jobs.
Clayton Home Building Group said it is investing $42 million in Conway to create a modern manufactured home building facility. Company representatives said they expect to add more than 250 jobs over the next three years as they expand to build 3,000 homes annually.
The company will locate and remodel the former Spirit Mobil Homes manufacturing site in west Conway. Officials said employees will build homes in an indoor, air-conditioned environment.
Conway Mayor Bart Castleberry and Faulkner County Judge Allen Dodson were both pleased with the announcement and spoke about the long-term impact of the company undertaking manufacturing in the city.
"We are thrilled to welcome Clayton to the fastest-growing city in Arkansas, bringing growth and new jobs that will strengthen our local economy for years to come,” Castleberry said.
“The $42 million economic redevelopment of a long-vacant facility along with creation of 253 new jobs and careers will have a positive impact on our community and its families,” Dodson said. “I am pleased to see continued strength in the economic development atmosphere of our community now and for our future.”
Based in Maryville, Tennessee, Clayton is a national builder of single-family homes in various configurations, built in-factory or on-site. According to its website, it is a Berkshire Hathaway company with over 20,000 employees worldwide. Company literature states it built 52,000 homes in 2023.
