Family and friends gather in honor of L.C. "Buckshot" Smith in Camden

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- L.C “Buckshot” Smith's funeral services were held at greater St. Paul Baptist church Saturday, his service was filled with family, friends, and the ones he worked with daily.

People say he started his career with love and passion for the community, and it remained that way following his death.

With over 6 decades in the Camden police department, L.C Smith lived and served his purpose, retiring at 93 and taking last breath at 95. 

People say "Buckshot" was well-rounded, serving as deacon for St. Paul Baptist Church and was helping hand to anyone in need. 

His family, friends and former colleagues all sharing their memories and the moments they spent with Smith.

Dana Peterson, Camden Police Department public relations officer, said it's a blessing to have known Buckshot and he will missed dearly and his years of service and devotion to Camden community will always be remembered. 

"If he seen anybody on the road, he was going to honk his horn, hit the siren, you know he was this community," Peterson said.

Smith’s family said there will be a day dedicated to Buckshot in Camden soon to carry out his legacy.
